Each play tool has its own tutorial. This one strings them together into the order a Game Master uses them, from “what are they fighting?” to “roll initiative”. Running a campaign? Every tool here opens from Play tools in the rail as a panel over your campaign, so you never leave it.

Before you start

  • Your party's size and level, and an idea of the scene.
  • About ten minutes. No AI credits; nothing here is saved, so prep just before you play.

From idea to initiative

  1. Choose the opposition

Open the Bestiary and filter by type and challenge to see what fits the scene. Open a stat block or two to check what they can do.
  2. Check it's a fair fight

In the Encounter Builder, set the party, search the same creatures by name and press Add, then adjust the numbers with − and + until Difficulty reads what you want — Moderate for a solid fight, High for a set piece.
  3. Lay out the room

On the Battle Map, size the grid, add a token per character and monster, then switch to Fog and tick Enable fog so the room starts hidden.
  4. Share the map

Press Share with the table and Copy invite link; send it, or put it on the table screen. Reveal squares as the party moves in.
  5. Roll initiative

Everyone rolls (the Dice Roller if you need one). Add each combatant to the Initiative Tracker with their roll and HP, and share it the same way.
  6. Have the reward ready

Roll the treasure in the Loot Generator now, at the tier the fight deserves, so it's waiting when they win.

Check it worked

You have three tabs ready — map, initiative, loot — and your players are following the map and the turn order on their own screens.

Keep it between sessions

These standalone tools keep nothing. In a campaign, the campaign's own battle map and NPC list persist from session to session — see campaign tools.
