How results are ordered

Nothing on Waypoint Realms is ordered by a formula you can't see. This page describes every list that has an order, what decides it, and what doesn't.

Sessions on Discover

Discover shows sessions within the distance you chose. Filters only narrow the list; they never reorder it. Signed in, you can pick how it's sorted:

• Soonest — by start time.
• Best match — sessions with more reasons to suit you come first: friends who are going, a game on your shelf or one you want to learn, how close it is, and how soon. Soonest first on a tie.

The app lists the nearest sessions first. The suggestions strip, when you see one, uses the same kinds of reasons as Best match and only suggests a session with at least one of them.

The Sponsored row

Venues and stores can pay to be shown in a row labelled Sponsored, above sessions, venues or products. The rules:

• At most two sponsored items appear at a time.
• A sponsored item only appears if it matches your search and filters.
• It never changes the list underneath. A sponsored item keeps whatever place it would have anyway, and isn't badged there.

Circles, venues, the store and search

• Circles — you can sort by name or newest. The default, best match, favours how active a Circle is: upcoming events, recent activity and size. Size counts for less than activity, so a big quiet Circle can't bury a small busy one.
• Venues — alphabetically, with the Sponsored row above.
• Store — by the sort you pick, with the Sponsored row above.
• Search — by how closely each result's name matches what you typed, grouped by kind.

Waitlists

A waitlist is served in the order people joined it, with one exception: a member who has recently missed sessions they held a seat for waits behind members who haven't. That only happens after two missed sessions out of at least three in the last 90 days, it clears on its own, and it never stops anyone from booking.
