Meeting at a safe-exchange venue
Hand over a marketplace item at a partner game store or café with staff around — how pickups work, what the handover code does, and what venue staff do and don't do.
Some partner venues — game stores, cafés, clubs — have offered themselves as safe-exchange points: a public, staffed place to meet another member and hand over a marketplace item. You'll see a Safe-exchange point badge on the venue's page, with the hours staff are around.
Which venues
Only venues whose owner has claimed their page on Waypoint Realms and switched this on. It costs the venue nothing and it doesn't change any fee for you.
Buying with pickup at a venue
Choose pickup
On a protected listing whose seller offers a venue, pick Pick up at … before Buy now. There's no shipping charge. You pay at checkout, and the money is held.Agree a time
Message the seller, then either of you sets the pickup time on the order. Only the two of you, and that venue's staff, can see when you're meeting.Check the item, then give your code
Your order shows a six-digit handover code. Once you have the item and you're happy with it, tell the seller the code. They enter it, and that releases your payment to them.

Selling with pickup at a venue
- When you list an item for pickup, choose a safe-exchange venue from the list. It shows on your listing, the way your region does.
- At the handover, give the item over, then type in the code the buyer shows you. Five wrong tries lock code entry, and then the buyer confirms receipt from their own orders instead.
- Never hand an item over for a code you haven't entered and seen accepted.
Trades and local deals
A trade can name a venue and a time to swap in person. Each of you still confirms receipt, and any cash part is released only once you both have. A local cash deal can suggest a venue to meet at, but no payment goes through Waypoint Realms, so there's no code and nothing for us to hold. Read meeting in person safely.
What venue staff do, and don't do
- They see a handle, the item's title and the time. They never see the price or your contact details.
- They can mark a handover witnessed. That's a note for you both. It doesn't release a payment or vouch for the item.
- They don't hold items, take payment, or settle disputes. Disputes come to us, as they always do.
