Meet up at a con, and suggest a missing one

Host or find anime meetups at the cons you're going to, see fandom gatherings, and suggest a con that isn't on the calendar.

A con is better with people to meet there. Anime meetups are in-person sessions on a con's dates, each with its own seats and chat.

Before you start

  • A Waypoint account, signed in — meetups and suggestions are for members.
  • To find meetups: Going or Interested on a con (see part 1).

Host a meetup

  1. Make the session

    On the con's page, under Anime meetups, press Host a meetup. It opens the new-session form set to anime on the con's first day; make the session there.

  2. Add it to the con

    Back on the con's page, pick it under One of your anime sessions, choose a For a franchise (optional), and press Add to this con.

Check it worked

It's listed under Anime meetups, · hosted by you. Take off this con removes it; the session itself stays.

Find meetups at your cons

On the Con Calendar, Meetups at your cons lists every meetup at the cons you're going to or interested in — At … · hosted by …. Narrow it to one franchise with the chips. Open one to take a seat and join its chat. A con's page also shows Fandom gatherings that cosplayers plan there; add or join those on the con's Cosplay page.

Suggest a con

  1. Open the form

    On the Con Calendar, press Suggest a con.

  2. Name it and link it

    The con's name and Its official website. Add the venue and the dates if you know them — or, with no dates yet, when it usually runs (Labor Day weekend).

  3. Send it

    Press Suggest it.

Check it worked

It reads Thanks. Staff will check it against the con's site… Under Your suggestions it shows Waiting for staff, then On the calendar or Not added with a staff note. You aren't notified; check back on the same page.

Run the con yourself?

Run this con? Claim it at the foot of its page asks staff to make you an organizer. From there it's the Hub — see Running a con.

If something's off

The add form isn't there
It shows once you host an upcoming anime session. Make one with Host a meetup first.
“A meetup at a con has to happen during the con.”
Move the session onto the con's dates.
“… has that website and is on the calendar already.”
The con is listed already — search the calendar for it.
“You have five suggestions waiting already…”
Wait for staff to get to them before suggesting more.
