Measure with a tape, or type what you know
Walk through the measurements you need with a tape and a diagram for each, save them at full confidence, or type a number straight into its row.
- ~6 min
- New to it
- Part 2 of 4
A tape isn't the fallback for when the camera struggles β it's the most accurate thing in the room, and what you take with it is saved as such (Β±5 mm).
Before you start
- A soft tape measure. A helper makes the back and shoulder lengths easier.
- For head length and breadth: two books.
- A body to save to (see part 1).
Walk through with a tape
Start the walk
Press Measure with a tape under your list β it walks the measurements you're missing β or Tape all β¦ under What you can make for one goal's.Follow the picture
Each step shows Tape Β· β¦ of β¦, a diagram of where the tape sits and how to stand, and the instruction. Keep a circumference snug but not tight, and level all the way round.Type the number

Only what you type is saved
Type a number you already have
Open the row
On the measurement's row, press Enter by hand (or Edit by hand).Type and save
Type the number and press Save. It's recorded as entered by hand, at Β±5 mm.
Five measurements can only be taped or typed β the camera can't take them: Height, Head length, Head breadth, Cross seam and Cross seam, front. Their rows say Camera can't take this one β enter it by hand. Shoulder slope is the opposite: camera or typed, never taped.
Typing your height
Every box takes a plain number in the unit showing. Height with inches showing also takes it the way you'd say it β 5'10", 70" or 178 cm.
If something's off
- βThat is well outside the usual rangeβ¦β
- Check the number, and that you're typing in the unit showing β it's easy to be a whole centimetre out, or in inches in a centimetre box.
- βThat's longer than any body measurement β check the number and the unit.β
- The number is over 3 metres. Check the unit.
- βNothing left to measureβ
- Everything in that set is already recorded. Pick a row to redo one.
- βCouldn't save that. Your measurements are still on screen β try again.β
- The save didn't reach us. Your numbers are kept; press save again.
