A character in the vault is the same character everywhere you play it. Link it to a campaign and the GM's XP awards are written onto its sheet; when the XP crosses the next level, the sheet offers a guided level-up. You can also bring it to a one-off session so the table can see who is coming.

Before you start

  • A character in your vault (parts 1–3).
  • To link it to a campaign, a seat in that campaign: the GM adds players by username. See Campaigns.
  • The guided level-up is for D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e sheets.

Bring it to a campaign

  1. Open the campaign

Open the campaign from Campaigns in the TTRPG Realm's rail.
  2. Choose who you're playing

At the table, your dock says No character linked yet. with a list of your characters: choose one. To change it later, open Table settings and pick a different character under Who you're playing (or No character to unlink).

Check it worked

Your seat shows your character, and the campaign dice roller in your dock rolls with its modifiers and attacks.

Bring it to a session

  1. Open a session you're going to

On a session's page you have joined, scroll to Party.
  2. Bring a character

Next to Bring a character:, choose one of yours. Choose β€” none β€” to take it back off the list.

Check it worked

Your character appears in the session's Party list for everyone going, linked to its sheet if you have shared it (part 5).

Level up

  1. Earn the XP

In a campaign, XP your GM awards to your character is added to its sheet's Experience (XP). Playing elsewhere? Open the sheet, press Edit, type the new total into Experience (XP), and Save changes. (In D&D 5e, level 2 starts at 300 XP.)
  2. Open the level-up

When the XP is enough, the sheet shows Level N is available β€” you have the XP to level up. Press Level up β†’. It never runs on its own.
  3. Gain hit points

Under Hit points, check the Hit die (set from your class), then take Average or choose Roll and press 🎲 Roll. The gain includes your Constitution modifier, and the new maximum is shown.
  4. Make the level's choices

The dialog asks only what this level grants: your Subclass when it arrives, an Ability Score Improvement (+2 to one score, +1 to two, or a feat in its place), or an Epic Boon at 19 on a 2024 sheet.
  5. Confirm

Press Confirm level N. The level, hit points, any score increase, your proficiency bonus and (for casters) spell slots update together.

Check it worked

A Leveled up to N! message appears, and the sheet shows the new level. If the XP covers more than one level, the banner offers the next one: level up one at a time.

Pathfinder 2e

A Pathfinder sheet has its own guided level-up with the same button: hit points, attribute boosts at the levels that grant them, skill increases, class features and feats. Anything it can't set for you, it tells you to note by hand.

If something's off

There's no Level up button
The sheet's Experience (XP) hasn't reached the next level yet, or the character isn't D&D 5e or Pathfinder 2e. Other systems advance by editing the sheet.
Campaign XP didn't reach the sheet
Check the character is the one linked under Who you're playing. Awards the GM hasn't applied yet are still pending on their side.
β€œCould not save the level-up.”
Nothing was changed. Close the dialog, reload the sheet and try again.
