Assemble a costume and fix what clashes

Put your saved pieces and downloaded models on one body, place pairs on each side, read the clashes and tight spots, and apply the smallest move that clears each one.

Pieces that fit on their own can still fight each other β€” a pauldron that hits the helmet, a vambrace that digs into a gauntlet. Costume Forge wears them together on your body and says where.

Before you start

  • Pieces saved in Piece Forge, or model files (STL, OBJ, 3MF or glTF).
  • Your measurements, for your own body rather than an average adult's.
  • Assembling and checking are free; saving the costume needs Plus (part 2).

Put the pieces on

  1. Open Costume Forge

In the Cosplay Realm's rail, choose Costume Forge β€” or press Assemble in Costume Forge β€Ί on a build.
  2. Choose the body

Under Fit to measurements, pick your profile (or Average adult).
  3. Add your pieces

Under Add a piece, choose from your library. A costume holds up to eight β€” the tape reads pieces worn Β· …/8.
  4. Or a downloaded model

Press Add a downloaded model, choose the file, say what it is under It's a, and press Wear it. It's read on your device, never uploaded.
  5. Place pairs

Arm and leg pieces go Right or Left; add one twice for a pair. A prop can also be Centre. Keep Move pairs together on to mirror them.

Check it worked

The tape reads costume: … Β· … pieces, and each row says fits, collides Β· … into … or too tight Β· … from ….

Read the clashes

  1. Set the clearance

Under Clearance, set the gap you want between pieces (1.0 cm to start).
  2. Read the list

A Clash is two pieces in the same space; a Tight one clears by less than your clearance and will bind when you move. Nothing clashes. This costume can be worn. means you're done.
  3. See them all

On the toolbar, Collisions labels every one on the body; Wear calls out only the worst.

Fix them

  1. Read the fix it card

fix it names the worst clash and offers up to two moves β€” Lift … (R) 1.4 cm, Move … out 0.5 cm.
  2. Apply one

Press a move. Each was checked before it was offered, so it clears that clash β€” though it may meet another. It moves that one piece, not its pair.
  3. Or trim, or nudge by hand

Where trimming would do better, it says how much and from which end β€” in Piece Forge for a piece you made. To place a piece yourself, select it and type Outward (or Across), Up and Forward, or drag it.

Resting contacts

An arm at your side really does touch your torso. Pairs on parts that move against each other are listed under … resting contacts not judged β€” check them by eye.

If something's off

β€œNothing to wear yet”
You have no saved pieces. Press Open Piece Forge, or Wear a downloaded model.
β€œβ€¦ is already worn everywhere it can go.”
That design is on both sides already. Each design can be worn once per side.
A downloaded model says not loaded
Model files stay on your device, so a reopened costume asks for it again β€” press Load ….
β€œNo nudge of these pieces clears it…”
Change one of the pieces in Piece Forge, or in your 3D software.
