Check a costume in motion, then save it to a build

Pose the body — arms up, arms forward, seated, crouching — to see what gets in the way, sweep each joint through its range, and save the costume to a build.

Standing still is the easy part. Poses show what stops you sitting down or raising a sword, before the foam is cut.

Before you start

  • An assembled costume (see part 1).
  • Posing is free. Saving needs Plus or Pro.

Pose it

  1. Pick a pose

Under Move (or the pose menu on the toolbar): Standing, Arms up, Arms forward, Seated or Crouching.
  2. Read what's in the way

Each piece rides its limb. Nothing gets in the way in this pose. — or an In the way line such as Seated: … runs … into …, sometimes with how much would have to come off one end.
  3. Fix it

The fix it card works in the pose too. In a pose, move pieces by typing their numbers; dragging works only standing.

Sweep each joint

  1. Check each joint

Under Range of motion, press Check each joint. It raises your arms forward and to the side, bends the elbows, lifts the legs and bends the knees, one at a time.
  2. Read the result

    Each reads …: the full …°. or …: stops by …° of …° — … meets ….

Check it worked

Change the costume and it reads The costume has changed since the last check. — press Check again.

Save it to a build

  1. Name it

In the Costume card, type a Name.
  2. Choose the build

Under For build, pick it (arriving from a build picks it for you).
  3. Save

Press Save as new the first time, Save after.

Check it worked

It reads Saved. The build's in the workshop panel lists the costume with the date — Assemble › reopens it — and Open a costume in Costume Forge lists it too.

On Free

There's no Save button: Assembling a costume here and checking it for clashes is free; saving one is not. Opening and deleting costumes you already saved always works.

If something's off

I can't drag a piece
You're in a pose. Go back to Standing, or type its numbers.
Choosing New costume… kept my pieces
It only stops editing the open costume; the pieces stay, and Save as new saves them as a copy.
“The measurements this costume was checked against have been deleted…”
That profile is gone, so it's shown on the body selected now. Pick another under Fit to measurements and save.
