Zzzax is a sentient mass of electrical energy born when terrorists sabotaged a New York nuclear power plant, creating a living electromagnetic field. It initially went on a rampage, absorbing the brainwaves of victims to gain intelligence, before the Hulk and Hawkeye stopped it. Zzzax has resurfaced many times as a recurring Hulk enemy, at one point hosting General Ross's mind. It escaped in the Raft breakout, was later captured by heroes such as She-Hulk and the Mighty Avengers, and served the villain MODOK Superior.
Powers and abilities
- Living electricity: its body is a sentient electrical field
- Energy absorption: feeds on power sources and grows larger and stronger
- Electrical blasts: discharges powerful bolts of current
- Brainwave drain: absorbs minds from victims to raise its intelligence and personality
- Machine disruption: manipulates nearby electronic equipment
- Flight: hovers and moves through the air
- Weakness: water can short it out
