Hank Pym is a brilliant biochemist who discovered Pym particles and used them to become Ant-Man, later operating as Giant-Man, Goliath and Yellowjacket. He was a founding Avenger alongside Janet van Dyne, but his creation of Ultron and a mental breakdown, in which he struck Janet, left lasting damage. Expelled and divorced, he rebuilt his reputation as a scientist and was named Earth's Scientist Supreme. Later he took the Wasp name to honor Janet and was eventually merged with Ultron.

- Size manipulation: shrinks to insect size or grows giant using Pym particles
- Genius intellect: expert in biochemistry, robotics and quantum physics
- Bio-energy stingers: fires blasts from his gloves
- Flight: uses wings in his Yellowjacket costume
- Insect communication: helmet lets him command ants and other insects
- Size-shifted gadgets: carries shrunken tools and weapons that expand on use
