Cain Marko was the abusive Kurt Marko's son and grew up resenting his stepbrother Charles Xavier. While serving in Korea he discovered the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak in a hidden temple and was transformed into the Juggernaut, an unstoppable mystic avatar. For years he rampaged alongside Black Tom Cassidy and battled the X-Men, but he gradually reformed, joining the X-Men, the Thunderbolts and later Excalibur. His powers have been lost and regained several times, and he eventually became a citizen of Krakoa.

- Superhuman strength: can lift well over 100 tons
- Unstoppable momentum: once moving he cannot be halted by physical means
- Invulnerability: nearly impervious to harm
- Force field: mystic shield of Cyttorak surrounds him
- Self-sustenance: needs no food, water or air while empowered
- Armor and helmet: helmet guards him from telepathic attack
- Hand-to-hand combat: trained military brawler
