Your work and your rights
What the Artist Bill of Rights means for the art and plans you upload: no training, your style and likeness, fast takedowns, credit that travels, and taking everything with you.
On this page
The Artist Bill of Rights is what we promise about the work you upload as your own: comic art, anime art, TTRPG character art, and cosplay plans and art. This page is what you can do with it. The page itself is the promise, and if we ever weaken it you hear about it in your inbox first.
We don't train on it or sell it
No model of ours is trained on anything you upload, and your work isn't licensed to anyone who would. There is nothing to opt out of. You own what you make; we only display it where you chose to put it.
Before an image goes public
An image you upload waits in a private folder and is screened there; it gets a public link only once it passes. Its hidden details, such as where a phone photo was taken, are removed when it is published. If the screen can't run, the upload is refused rather than published unchecked.
Someone used your work
Open the work and choose Report, then Uses my work without permission. The details box is required for this reason: add a link to your original, or describe it. You don't need a lawyer.
- An image, post, profile photo, actual-play write-up or Design Shop listing is hidden straight away, and a moderator reviews it within 72 hours.
- A comic, or one chapter of it, goes to our copyright takedown desk. It is held from readers straight away, and a decision is due within 72 hours. The desk sees your name and email, so it can contact you about the claim.
You can also send a formal notice to our copyright agent. The address is under Takedown is fast and human.
Your style isn't a prompt
Our image tools refuse a prompt that asks for the style of a Waypoint member by their username, with We don't make images in the style of a Waypoint member. If a listing or post sells or markets itself as “in the style of” you, report it with Sells or posts work as ‘in the style of’ a member, and a moderator reviews it.
A photo or image of you
Report it with This is me, and I want it taken down. An image, post or profile photo you report this way is hidden straight away, and a moderator reviews it within 72 hours. If you accepted a credit on someone's cosplay build, you can take yourself off it on Your credits.
Your name travels with your work
Your name and profile link go with your work when it's shared: in the link preview a shared page shows, on a character sheet's PDF and in its character file. If your work was posted without your credit, report it with My name was taken off my work. A moderator can restore the post once your name is back on it, or remove it.
Taking everything with you
Download my data, under Download your data on your account page, gives you everything at any time, without asking support: JSON and CSV, with a list of every file you've uploaded and a link to each one. See Your data, and closing your account.
