Workshop (pre-game)

A pre-game workshop is a session before a larp starts where players learn the game's safety tools, meet each other and practise the kind of play to come.

Organisers use a workshop to introduce players, explain the game's themes and safety tools, and run short exercises. These might include practising the game's calls and signals, agreeing with your co-players how intense your scenes should be, and warm-ups that help people settle into character. Workshops are a big part of Nordic-style larp and are now common in many other games. It is also where you can raise any personal limits before play begins. Formats vary a lot, so your event's own briefing materials are the best guide to what will happen.
