Phys-rep

A phys-rep (physical representation) is a real object used to stand for an in-game item, a term used mostly in North American larp.

A phys-rep is whatever you actually hold or carry to stand in for something your character owns: a foam sword for a steel blade, a painted box for a treasure chest, a rolled paper for a scroll. The word is mostly North American; UK players tend to just say prop, or lammie for an item card. Phys-reps can be bought, borrowed or made, and games expect different levels of detail. Anything used in combat must meet your game's own safety rules and pass its weapon check, and the organisers decide what is acceptable.
