LARP-safe

LARP-safe describes a weapon, prop or material built and checked to be safe enough for larp combat under a game's own construction and inspection rules.

A LARP-safe weapon is usually soft on every striking surface, has no hard parts that can be felt through the padding, a core that flexes without snapping, and a finish that will not crack or flake. There is no single standard: a weapon passed at one game may fail at another, so take your kit to the weapon check at every event. Looking soft is not enough. Check your weapons before each use and retire any with cracks, hard spots, a crushed tip or a core you can feel. Your game's rules and safety brief are the authority on what is allowed on its field.
