Crew (monster crew)

Crew, or monster crew, are the people who play the enemies, villagers and other non-player characters at a larp event so the players have a world to meet.

On crew you might be a bandit in one encounter, a frightened villager in the next and a named villain later on. In the UK this is usually called crewing or monstering; elsewhere you may hear NPCing or cast. Some games have a separate crew for the whole event, while others ask players to take crew shifts as well as playing their own characters. Crewing is one of the quickest ways to learn a game, because you see many encounters from the inside. Ask the organisers what costume or kit you need, and go to the safety brief, since crew follow the same combat rules and weapon checks as everyone else.
