Lay out panels
Start from a page layout or draw your own panels — rectangles, ellipses, polygons — split and merge them, snap them into place, and style their frames.

- Comfortable
- Part 3 of 6
In the editor, the left rail has the tools, the canvas is the page, and the right rail — the inspector — styles whatever you've selected.
Before you start
- An issue with a page (see part 2), open in the editor.
- A screen at least 1280 pixels wide, for the inspector.
Start from a layout
Under Layouts: Splash, Two tiers, Three tiers, Six panel, Wide over two, Establish, beat, beat, Quarters or Tall pair. A layout replaces the page's panels — Undo brings them back.
Draw your own
Pick a tool
Under Panels: Select (V), Rectangle (R), Ellipse (E), Polygon (P) or Split (S).Draw
Drag a rectangle or ellipse. For a polygon, click each corner and click the first point again (or double-click) to close it.Split one
With Split, drag a line across a panel. With nothing selected it cuts every panel the line crosses.Move and merge
With Select, drag a panel — it snaps to the margins, the page centre and other panels' edges. Shift+click to select several, then Merge into one panel.

Style the frame
With a panel selected, the inspector's Frame sets its colour and width, Frame style picks Solid, Rough or None, and Corner radius rounds a rectangle. Forward and Back change which panel sits on top; Delete removes it. The page section sets the Background and Size (Standard or Spread).
If something's off
- I can't see the inspector or the tools
- The window is too narrow: the tools need 1024 pixels across, the inspector 1280.
- My split panels have no gap
- Split cuts without a gutter. Nudge the halves apart with the arrow keys.
- “You look offline — this page isn't saved yet.”
- Your connection dropped. Keep the page open; it saves when you're back.
