The Bindery is where comics published on Waypoint Realms are read — by indie creators, small presses and members. Its header carries Home, Browse and Library, and a search box that works from any Bindery page.

Before you start

  • A Waypoint account, signed in, on any plan. That is all you need to read free comics, add a title to your library, pull it or follow a publisher.
  • Signed out, the sample issue in the Comics Realm is the one comic you can read.
  • Age ratings still apply, so some titles won't show on an account under 18 or with no birthdate.

Start on the home page

  1. Open the Bindery

In the Comics Realm's rail, choose The Bindery.
  2. Pick up where you left off

If you've started something, the top panel reads Pick up where you left off. and shows where you were. Continue reading (Continue listening for an audio comic) takes you straight back; Title page opens the title. With nothing started, it reads Start something new. with a Browse the shelf button.
  3. See what came out

New this Wednesday, beside it, lists up to three issues out this week. New issues land on Wednesdays.
  4. Scan the rails

Below are rows of covers: Start here (staff picks), Trending this week, New releases, From the community and Story arcs (Atlas reading orders that run through titles you can read here), then any other staff-pick list. See all → at the head of a row opens the rest of it.

Check it worked

Each row is a list of covers you can scroll sideways. Trending this week only shows once at least three titles have five or more readers over the last seven days, and From the community only once there's something on it.

Browse the shelf

  1. Open Browse

Choose Browse in the Bindery header (or Browse comics in the Realm's rail).
  2. Search

Type in the header's search box (Search titles, publishers, creators). From any Bindery page it takes you to Browse, and the heading becomes Results for “…”.
  3. Choose a format

Under Format: All, Issues, Webtoon, Manga or Audio.
  4. Choose a shelf

Under Shelf: Everything, Community (comics members publish themselves) or Publishers (presses).
  5. Choose a price

Under Price: Any, Free, Bindery Pass or Paid.
  6. Sort

Sort reads Newest until you change it: Trending, Newest, Recently updated or A–Z. With a search, it starts at Best match, and a slip in the spelling still finds the title.
  7. Pick a decade or year

Where the titles span more than one, Decade chips (such as 2020s) and Year chips narrow the shelf by the year a title first went live. With several decades, pick one to see its years.
  8. Narrow it further

Open More filters for Genre, Publisher, Language, Status (Ongoing, Completed, On hiatus) and Rating, then press Apply. Genre, Publisher and Language appear only when there's more than one to choose from.

The count at the top reads … titles. Format, Shelf, Price and Sort take effect the moment you choose them — only More filters needs Apply. Clear drops every filter.

Preview a title without leaving the shelf

  1. Press a card

A Preview panel opens beside the grid, and the card you pressed gets a blue shadow. On a narrow screen the panel slides up from the bottom instead.
  2. Read it

The panel shows the cover, the publisher (Press or Community), tags for format, rating, price and status, how many issues there are and, once enough people are reading it, readers this week. Under the synopsis, First issues lists the first three, each marked Free, Pass or Buy.
  3. Start, or save it for later

The main button starts or continues the title (Start reading, or Continue — issue 3, page 12 when you're part-way through). Title page opens the title's page. Signed in, Add to library puts it on your shelf and then reads In your library ✓.
  4. Close it

Press the X in the panel's corner, or Esc. Changing a filter closes it too.

Open a title

A title's page has its cover, publisher, tags and synopsis, and a main button that follows your progress: Start reading, Continue — issue 3, page 12, Read issue 4 or Read again from the start (an audio comic says Start listening or Listen to issue 4). Signed in, Add to library and Add to collection sit beside it.

The Up next card names the one issue to open now: the one you're part-way through (with Resume page 12), or the first you haven't finished after the furthest you've got, in the publisher's order. When you've read everything it says You're caught up. and whether the run is complete or new issues land on Wednesdays. When the series is in an Atlas arc, it adds Part 3 of …, linking the arc. Below it, the issue picker lists every issue; see the reader and the picker. Further down are the title's rating in words with any warnings it declares (Contains: …), its credits and its reviews.

Hear about new chapters

  1. Pull a title

On a title's page, press Pull new chapters. It reads Pulling — new chapters notify you, and the title goes on your shelf if it wasn't there.
  2. Or just follow it

Press Follow beside it to hear when a new chapter is out without putting the title on your pull list. It reads Following — chapter notices only. Pulling and following still send one notice per chapter.
  3. Follow a publisher

On a publisher's page, press Follow to hear when they publish a new title.

Check it worked

You get New chapter out for pulled and followed titles, and New comic from someone you follow for new titles — under Follows & discovery in your notification settings.
